It´s Thanksgiving Day. For my home it means Macy´s parade, abuelo Jose´s Puerto Rican-American stuffing and feta cheese. It´s wonderful to be a Latina in NY.
I always knew I was bi-cultural as a child, but never fully appreciated it. Instead, I never felt like I could identify fully with one or another culture. While in the U.S. I never felt fully "American" since I was raised by parents with strong Spanish ideals. When visiting my family in Spain and Puerto Rico, we were "Las Americanas".
Today, thanks to wisdom gained throughout the years, I appreciate my rich cultural history, and hope to guide my girls through the challenges of being - in their case - tri-cultural.
Oh. I have another blog. Visit me there at Mommylogue.com
